Buying shoes internationally or online is significantly easier when you know your size in every system, since there is no universal standard and even sizes within the same system can vary between brands and manufacturers.

EU sizes are measured in Paris points (one Paris point equals 2/3 of a centimetre). US women's sizes are approximately 1.5 to 2 sizes larger than US men's sizes for the same foot length. UK sizes are typically 0.5 sizes smaller than US men's sizes. Japanese sizes directly express foot length in centimetres (e.g. 25.0 = 25 cm foot). Width fittings add another dimension: US uses D (standard), B (narrow) and E/EE (wide); UK uses C through H with F being average. Always measure both feet and use the larger measurement, since most people have one foot slightly longer than the other.

For the most accurate fit, measure foot length with a Brannock device or ruler against a wall. Add 10 to 15 mm to your foot length for a proper shoe fit — this is the last allowance.
